# Landing Your Next Job

Back in July of 2022, I went through what I'm convinced is a rite of passage when working in the tech industry. I got laid off (due to a mass layoff/restructure) after only having been at the company less than 2 months. I was devastated. This was my first senior role and I was excited to have the opportunity to showcase my skills as a Senior Software Engineer.

With the current state of the economy, I was concerned about how long it may take me to land another job. I had just finished interviewing 2 months ago, and now I'm back at square one. I took 4 days off to process the situation and then came back ready to make my next move.

The truth was that, even though I was starting from square one, I was starting with an additional 2 months of experience. This time around, it took me a 5 weeks to land a new job. I'm writing this guide for those coming into the field from non-traditional backgrounds, the ones who aren't sure if this field is right for them, and for those who are trying to land their first tech job. Here's what I did this time, what I learned, and some sprinkles of motivation.
